What we collect, and what we don't.
kith is built so the sensitive part of your profile never leaves your phone. This page is a plain-language description of what that means in practice.
The app
The kith app stores your answers in encrypted local storage on your iPhone, using ChaChaPoly. The encryption key lives in the iOS Keychain. It does not leave your device.
From those answers the app derives two embeddings: one that describes who you are, and one that describes what you're looking for. These embeddings are kept on your device too.
When you choose to compare with someone, only those embeddings are shared, encrypted in transit. Your raw answers are never transmitted. Sharing is always something you initiate. There is no background sync, no silent upload, no telemetry of your answers.
If you delete the app, your local profile is removed with it.
The waitlist
If you join the waitlist on this site, we collect one thing: your email address. We use it for one thing: to send you a TestFlight invite when there is room.
We do not send marketing emails. We do not sell, rent, or share email addresses. If you want off the list, reply to any message we send and we will remove you the same day.
The waitlist is hosted by Netlify, which acts as our processor for form submissions. Their privacy notice covers their handling.
This website
The site is static. We do not run analytics, third-party trackers, or advertising scripts. We do not set cookies for tracking. The site loads webfonts from Google Fonts, which has its own privacy notice and may log standard request metadata.
Server access logs are kept by our host for a short period for operational reasons (debugging, abuse prevention). They contain things like IP address, user agent, and the path you requested. We do not connect those logs to your email address.
Children
kith is not intended for people under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from minors.
Changes
If this page changes in any meaningful way, we will update the date at the top, and email anyone on the waitlist if the change affects them.
